Greetings to all parents and students in Grade 5! This is the spot to learn about most things going on in most subjects in Grade 5. (Math has its own page). If you have any questions for me, send me a quick email and I will contact you the same school day.

With the rescheduling of the ski trip, we now have an additional day we can use to prepare for our speech competition. Students have been informed that the previous Friday (the original due date) speeches will be used as a practice run. All students are still eligible for the competition in Tuesday's class. Students who will not be competing for the tri school speech competition will have additional time.

Students have been given all of the information regarding their at-home end of novel project:

  • Writing a children's version book of 'The Teacher's Funeral'

  • Making a diorama of one scene found in the book

  • Making a board game based on our novel

Students will have the same selections after the completion of the second novel study, with a few extra options available as well. Each option can be selected only once. This project will not be due until early March prior to the March break.

The 1000 page Challenge For the second term, students are challenged to read 1000 pages from a variety of novels of their own selection (approved by Mr. Williams). Students have their recording journals (which counts towards a portion of their overall mark) and can begin recording their weekly reading progress.
